The Internet Peering Playbook details what is peering, how it helps businesses, and more importantly offers tips on how to get started the right way and the business cases for doing so. This guide was easy to read and understand which provided me the training I needed. This is a must read and I would give it 6 stars if I could!

This is a very informative and unique book. I cant thank the author more for taking the time to share his knowledge on a complex subject. This is not just a book to read but a great technical reference guide for Peering. Universities do not teach this. Companies do not teach this. You can only derive this knowledge from experience and we are very lucky to have this resource. Thank you William Norton.

If you're getting this for an English class, then don't. All the stories in the book are fairly popular so you can just find them on google. There is some cool background info about the stories, but save you're self 70 dollars and just read the stories online.

Book was what he needed.

My son is taking college courses in high school. It's a great deal, as he gets ahead and i don't pay tuition. However when you rent a book from amazon, they must think it will be gently used by a college kid, get used once a week and left in a dorm room the rest of the time. My son needs his books every day. It is in a backpack and no matter how careful he is, it is too well used for amazon to take back.

As textbooks go, this was prefect. it arrived quickly and in good condition. Initially ordered the paperback edition which was not what the professor wanted. This hardback edition was different, for some reason...and the right book for the class. Thank you

Mick Cooper is Professor of Counselling Psychology at the University of Roehampton and is a leading international authority in the fields of person-centred, experiential, existential and relational therapies. A wide-angle, insightful affirmation of our *many* selves

I'm a human being, a recoverer from childhood trauma, a therapist, and a reader. This collection of essays by professional researchers of "the human condition" affirms for me a profound truth about all of us, and why we do what we do. These veteran authors' central theme is "multiplicity" - the little-acknowledged universal fact that our "minds" are naturally modular, routinely producing a range of subselves or subpersonalities that we experience as one "me". One profound implication is that "you and me" are two physical people - and also two *groups* of *selves* all interacting in complex ways, simultaneously, in ways we're only vaguely conscious of.
Author/editors John Rowan and Mick Cooper have done lay people and professionals a great service by bringing together a group of articulate experts who weave a convincing meta-story affirming our *multiplicity* across theory, research, and practice. The implications of what they collectively say are - in my biased opinion - world-view shifting. If most people in our culture or world accepted that each of us is a *group* of people, without being *crazy* in the least - I suspect our society would shift dramatically, in many good ways.
One of the many benefits of this book is the buffet of different articulate concepts that are spread before the reader. There is a unifying theme, but a rich diversity of background, perspective, conceptions, terminology, and enterpretations that empowers each reader to sample and construct our own belief about "multiplicity" and it's personal and social meaning.
The content of this book, and the credibility of it's group of authors, has shifted how I think about myself, you, and our fellow Beings - even after 62 years of observing and mulling. The implications of what these wise people write are vast, and beyond summary here.
I believe anyone - not just clinicians - with genuine interest in personal growth, behavior, and potential will significantly profit from reading this and related books like "Internal Family Systems Therapy", by Richard Schwartz. Another interesting, useful book is "Embracing Each Other", by psychologists Hal and Sidra Stone.

A must read for young people just beginning their careers.

I must provide full disclosure, I am an avid fan of Peter Gabriel. But I will do my best to be as objective as possible.

I gave this book five stars because it is one of the most inspirational books I've read in a long time. I appreciate the way Mr. Gabriel emphasized that we have God-given talents and abilities, but God expects us exercise those talents. In other words...we must work to achieve our dreams.

I especially like the way he weaved the bible throughout this book. He doesn't take Scripture out of context. I have shared with my friends his words of wisdom. And I have encouraged my oldest child who is in college to read this book and tell her friends about it.

My only criticism is not with Mr. Gabriel, but his editor. There are a couple of grammatical errors that slipped through the cracks. And the book states that Lot was Abraham's uncle, however, Lot was Abraham's nephew. I blame the editor, because I have listened to Mr. Gabriel's music, listened to interviews, and read enough about him to know that he is a perfectionist. These errors in no way detract from the message of the book.

Mr. Gabriel is reputed to be humble. True to form, not once does he draw attention to himself, or to his career with Genesis. For those who don't know, he is a musical living legend. However, if I was unaware of his background, I would probably assume that hi is a motivational speaker.

I would highly recommend this book to those just starting their careers. I would also recommend it to those who feel stagnant in their lives. Very motivational with practical advice. It's a very uplifting short read.

I find it very hard to beLIEve that this is THE Peter Gabriel. I am very disappointed and wish I didn't spend the money on it. Giving one star only because they won't let me give less.

About the Author
J.B. Bernstein is the cofounder and president of Access Group, an athlete management firm that has represented some of the greatest athletes of all time, including Barry Bonds, Barry Sanders, and Emmitt Smith. PROLOGUE

Their crisp white Million Dollar Arm uniforms gleaming in the bright Arizona sun, Rinku and Dinesh took the field. They had spent the last hour warming up inside the training facility, throwing 90-mile-per-hour fastballs that hit the catcher’s mitt with lots of mustard and a satisfying pop. They were locked in and ready to go. About to face a crowd of pro scouts, the two were far from finished projects, but to look at them, you’d never guess that just a year before, they had never touched a baseball. Hell, a year ago, they didn’t even know what a baseball was.

These two guys, who hailed from the kind of small, rural Indian villages where many people didn’t have indoor plumbing, running electricity, or opportunities for work, found themselves in Tempe that early-November morning to compete for a spot in the bigs. The experiment began a year earlier with a zany idea to canvass India, where baseball is virtually unknown, in search of raw pitching talent. Rinku and Dinesh were the winners of the nationwide contest and reality TV show. Now they were trying to make history as the first natives of India to become pro athletes in the United States.

The training facility where we were holding the tryout, housed in an ordinary office park adjacent to a strip mall, didn’t exactly look like the stuff of Cooperstown. But it was one of the top facilities in Arizona. Several office suites had been combined to create a beautiful, modern space with cold tubs for ice baths, workout equipment, an indoor pitching mound, and the like. Out the back door and across a parking lot was a strip of Astroturf with a pitching mound and pitching cage specifically designed for pitchers and hitters to train.

Behind home plate stood thirty stony-faced scouts. It was unbelievable, even surreal, how many scouts had turned out to see if Rinku and Dinesh could throw. These travel-hardened vets of the sport, who will look under any and every rock for the next megastar, couldn’t stay away from our tryout, no matter how ridiculous a long shot it was.

The scouts weren’t the only ones eager to discover whether baseball can be learned well enough in a year to play in the pros. A huge crowd of media—including ESPN, USA Today, and local reporters and TV crews—had assembled, which was very atypical. No one ever covers baseball tryouts. Even a crazy, once-in-a-generation high school recruit is a tough sell to an editor. But two guys who, if they didn’t do the impossible and land a spot on a baseball team, would be sent back to a life of hardship, at least by American standards? Well, that was newsworthy. Rinku’s and Dinesh’s tryout had all the melodrama and nail-biting potential heartbreak that make for an irresistible sports story.

When the time came to bring out Rinku and Dinesh, their pitching had been great, which wasn’t always the case. While both had big-league potential, their lightning-quick education meant that their deliveries could be erratic. Some days were good, some days not so much. We wanted them to warm up inside so that they would come out looking sharp. And, thank God, today their mechanics were laser-focused.

When Rinku; Dinesh; their pitching coach, Tom House; talent scout and trainer Ray Poitevint; my business partners Ash Vasudevan and Will Chang; and I walked out of the building in one badass line, it was like a scene from Reservoir Dogs. (Well, maybe more like the scene from Swingers where they imitate Reservoir Dogs.) As Coach House started to introduce the boys, smiling and thanking everyone for coming out to see this miracle of baseball, our mini-entourage was buzzing with nerves. I was so pumped; I couldn’t wait for them to get out on the mound. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that Rinku and Dinesh were going to nail this thing.

Dinesh was up first. The scouts, three deep, jostled one another and shoved their radar guns into place. (Scouts all bring their own guns, since they don’t trust anyone.) Dozens of barrels pointed at Dinesh as he trotted out to the mound.

I’d never been more excited about anything in mylife—and as a pro sports agent who had been in the businessfor more than twenty years, it took a lot to get meexcited. I had seen and done just about everything: drivenexpensive cars, flown on private jets, partied at the hottestnightclubs, dated the prettiest girls, and watched the

Super Bowl from the sidelines. But this was different. If Rinku and Dinesh showed the scouts the best they could do, it would change the courses of their lives and their families’ lives forever. It would also vindicate me after most of the sports community told me I was an idiot when I first came up with the idea.

I felt great. Success was assured. There wasn’t a hint that anything could go wrong—until someone pulled back the tarp that had been covering the mound. Suddenly, like a train wreck unfurling in slow motion, the entire situation went south. The mound, sandy, crumbling, and uneven, was totally messed up.

“Coach, mound no good,” Dinesh said.

The scouts, their guns raised in the air, waited. There was no time.

“You gotta go,” Coach House whispered loudly. “Just go!”

And just like when the guys left their villages back in India for a foreign land and a crazy dream, Dinesh took a major-league leap of faith, stepped up to the mound, and wound up for his first pitch.

"Million Dollar Arm" Inspires us to Find the Path to a Safer, Saner, More Humane World

I first learned of this story while watching the Disney film of the same name during my Christmas vacation in Cairo, Egypt. I was so moved by the film, I just had to read the book.

Even more powerful than the movie, this is the most inspirational story I've read this year, without any doubt. There is a common thread here in Egypt. Not with Cairo or urban Egypt, of course, but with the rural villagers of Upper Egypt.

I can well imagine a few of the Saidi (Upper Egypt peasant-class) behaving as Dinesh did with the toilet aboard the aircraft. Still further, when I began work in Cairo back in 1986, I was as fortunate to find an extremely honest, capable assistant as was Deepesh to Bernstein.

Of course, I was in a different field, and my circumstance is not especially relevant to this review.

My point is, perhaps Americans and all the world can learn so much simply by reading this book and taking to heart the essential lessons.

The vast majority of the population, at least in Third World countries, has more in common with Rinku, Dinesh and Deepesh than with us. J.B. Bernstein has, despite his many personal (and acknowledged) shortcomings, has hit upon some key points that we and our political (and business) leaders need to understand --- not all the world's people have dreams for there future or understand that they have, or can have, a role in developing a safer, saner, more humane civilization. They barely even can scratch out an existence. Yet, many of them, know more about 'family love' and respect and honor than most of us.

I so thoroughly enjoyed this story that I have purchased the Kindle book and the Audible book, and intend to buy the video when I return home next month.

What's more, I intend to purchase some paperback copies and mail them to some select friends and colleagues in the political world. I wish I could do more to advance what I regard as the most positive tool we can use to prevent our own self-destruction.

Bernstein, Deepesh, Dinesh and Rinku are bright stars illuminating the way to a better world.

This book is fantastic. I read it in only a few hours. I was so amazed as how these two young men from India learned English and also learned how to play baseball. I admire J.B. Bernstein for taking on the responsibility of living with these young men and guiding them as they learn how to play baseball in the US. These young men were so lucky to have an agent such as J.B. Bernstein. This man was willing to put his life on hold to make sure these two young men succeeded. Must read book. I am looking forward to the Disney movie which comes out in June. If you don't have a chance to read the book go see the movie.

This book focuses on the life lessons learned by the sports agent as well as the two young men from India. When you are faced with an issue whether it be job related or personal, collaboration and problem solving skills are key as well as not fearing failure.
Some of the greatest achievements are made from mistakes that do not turn out as you expected.

A survey of first encounters

The book gives an overview of a selection of first meetings between Europeans and other cultures. It has several thorough chapters on (e.g.) the Aztecs, the Tahitians and the Japanese, and more episodic chapters on many more. Several chapters on native Americans may have special interest to North American readers. While containing many fascinating tales, it does not, however, reveal any systematic approach. It is also rather superficial and disappointingly ethnocentric in tone in many places. The potential of drawing on the many 'case studies' in the book to extract some broader insight is not utilized. Hence, its analytical aspects are weak, to the point of being non-existent, and its usefulness for graduate students and researchers accordingly rather limited.
